Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich and Lurg Mhor from Glen Carron

18.3 miles, 1978 metres of ascent
Estimated time: 9h30m
This is a long day out in the mountains. There are three similarly long days out in the mountains in the area, but it is possible to compress this in to two days if you are happy camping. On your first day complete this route until the second time you reach Bealach Bhearnais. From here turn East over Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a' Chaorachain. Descend North before turning East to Lochan Gaineamhach continuing up to Maoile Lunndaidh. You can camp either at Bealach Bhearnais or on the Northern side of Lochan Gaineamhach, depending how energetic you feel!
Start from the public carpark at Craig, follow the track over the train line and as it turns to follow parallel. Follow it as it turns to the South over River Carron but make sure you don't cross over Allt a' Channois, instead turn left just before the crossing. Follow this track all the way up to the upper regions of Glen Chonais. At 074466 use the bridge to cross over and pick up the path to the East of your current position. (The OS map here has a footbridge marked, but I could only find two wire rope bridges. The river is crossable without them in dry conditions) Follow this path up to Bealach Bhearnais. From Bealach Bhearnais head South-West up the ridge of Beinn Tharsuinn, this is a Corbett and the high-point is the second summit you will come across. From the high-point descend along the ridge to the South-West past the lochan and down to the bealach, drop South-West from the ridge here to drop down to the col between Beinn Tharsuinn and Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich. Descend down to the stone wall at the col, you will be able to pick up a rough path here. There are a couple of short (poor quality) scrambling sections, but you will emerge out on to a grassy shelf, turn left here to find a grassy gully to gain access to the summit. (4h30m).
Drop down to the South-East, you will quickly reach the col but continue South-East to reach a broad level area. Continue East and you will eventually reach the summit of Lurg Mhor (5h30m).
Return back to the col between Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich and Lurg Mhor. You always have the option of using your outbound route, the amount of re-ascent isn't actually that great, but the descent back off Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich always makes this a poor option. Alternatively, head North-East from this col, avoid dropping down all the way to Loch Monar, but try to skirt round the bottom of the South-East ridge of Beinn Tharsuinn as high as you can to leave you the minimum amount of re-ascent needed to reach Bealach Bhearnais. This leaves a long but downhill walk-out.
